Elizabeth from Antipodes Nature Limited, who exports to seven countries, is experiencing 84% growth in her business, and has released 8 new product lines so far this year in relation to the one new product line introduced last year.
 
What is Elizabeth doing?
 
Continuing the commitment to her brand.
Developing new products and tapping into previously unexplored markets.
Maintaining active in the premium end of the market.
Advertising has become cheaper, so she is advertising more.

Geoff from Trinity Diagnostics spoke about the continuing need for research and development and how this is positioning his business for the next wave of growth over the next 12 - 24 months.
 
Jo from Team Excite shared the passion of the Konfident Kidz programme currently being run in schools throughout Wellington. This business has huge potential for growth and the ground work that they are doing for our future leaders is significant for our community development.



DENIS SAMPSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPDENIS SAMPSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is intended to provide financial support for a local member to continue their education in a discipline relevant to their profession. It provides a cash payment of $500 on the successful completion of an "approved course of study" which has a direct relevance to the financial advisory profession. By funding this from the branch finances, the Wellington branch is recognising the growing professional requirements of its members.

Who is eligible to apply?
Scholarships are awarded twice annually, and at the sole discretion of the Trustees who will take account of the following guidelines.

The applicant:
must be a financial member of the IFA Wellington Branch, be ineligible for educational financial support from their own organisation, to be regularly involved in IFA Wellington Branch activities, generally recognised as having a high degree of professionalism, and must be committed to the further development and promotion of the IFA.

The application: - to be in writing to the Trustees and outline:
the proposed course of study, the date of course commencement and completion, evidence of enrolment, and accompanied by a personal statement which (in no more than 500 words) outlines what personal objective(s) of the applicant will be achieved through the course of study, and how the applicant intends to further the objectives of the IFA in the future.

Why 'Denis Sampson'?
Denis Sampson (who recently died at the age of 86) joined the life insurance industry as an agent in 1962 and retired in 1985 at the age of 70. He served as the LUA National President from 1975 to 1977. He had a passion for ongoing education, and was instrumental in the formation of the LUA Code of Ethics and the establishment of the New Zealand Diploma of Life Assurance.
