Nigel has operated his Financial Planning Practice in Hamilton since 1988 covering all of the core areas of Financial Planning having entered the profession via a career as a professional Insurance adviser with NMLA, he is passionate about the full range of services provided by advisers in their areas of speciality and has had many years supporting other practitioners via his involvement with: * FPSB (Denver) * University of Waikato As you will see from the above, Nigel is committed to assisting to raise the educational levels and Practice Standards of our Profession and would like to see the IFA taking a lead role in this to assist the regulators to get it as close to right first time as we can. He was recently recognised by being nominated for and awarded 'Financial Alert Person of the year 2008'. Nigel lives just out of Hamilton with his partner Michelle who teaches, and their 7 yr old daughters, Sophie and Jessica, with his other daughters Hannah (25) and Michaela (21) living their lives relatively independently. | |

Phillip Meyer is an experienced company director and investment banker. He is Chairman of Australian Financial Services Group, New Zealand Institute of Management Central Inc, Deputy Chairman of the Wellington Zoo Trust, a Director of Southern Cross Healthcare Group, Kordia Group Limited, Enterprise New Zealand Trust, the Wellington Orchestra Foundation, a member of the Disciplinary Tribunal of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of NZ, NZX Discipline, the National Council and Wellington Branch Committee of the Institute of Directors. He is also Crown Monitor of the Whanganui District Health Board. He has a number of other commercial business interests in Australia and New Zealand. He was a financial adviser in the Sydney Olympics 2000 bid and advised Australian State Governments on the growth of economic development arising out of the Olympics. Phillip Meyer is an Accredited Fellow of the Institute of Directors, Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and the New Zealand Institute of Management. He was awarded the honour of being made a Legend of Tourism in recognition of his work for the Australian tourism industry over a number of years and in particular for his contribution to the Sydney Olympics. | |

Jordi is a founding director and principal of New Zealand Financial Planning and has over 23 years experience in the financial services industry, with the last 20 in financial planning. Prior to financial planning Jordi worked in the banking and mortgage broking industries and gained experience putting together tax orientated structures for investors. He is a Certified Financial Planner (CFPCM). Jordi was awarded the 2001 New Zealand Financial Planner of the Year Award sponsored by Good Returns Magazine, for excellence and professionalism within the industry. For the last 16 years Jordi has also tutored and lectured at the University of Auckland on a part-time basis in Engineering Economics and Management Accounting for the School of Engineering, and Accounting and Personal Financial Planning for the Department of Continuing Education and the University's Centre for Professional Development. Jordi served for 20 years as a part-time member of the Territorial Force of the NZ Army finishing in 1999 as the Commanding Officer of the 3rd Auckland (CRO) and Northland Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was awarded the Efficiency Decoration (E.D.) in 1992. Jordi and his wife Sara have four children and live on the North Shore. Currently Jordi's interests revolve around the family. In addition he loves to read a good book, playing games and enjoys keeping fit. | |

Liz established her financial planning company - Moneymax - in 1999, after a successful career in management, including seven years as General Manager with a Crown Research Institute. Liz is a Certified Financial Planner, a Chartered Accountant and an Accredited Director (Provisional). She holds an MSocSc in Economics from the University of Waikato, a BCA in Accountancy from Victoria University, and a Graduate Diploma in Business Studies (Personal Financial Planning) from Massey University. A keen property investor, she belongs to the Capital Property Investors’ Association. She is a volunteer mentor with Business Mentors New Zealand, a member of Kapiti Rotary Club, a member of the Wellington Panel of the J. R. McKenzie Trust and a Trustee of the Kapiti Community Recreational Turf Trust. Liz is a former Deputy Chair of the Institute of Directors Wellington Branch and a former Chair of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Wellington Branch) Financial Services Special Interest Group. Liz is passionate about ensuring that New Zealanders have access to good financial advice. She contributes articles to a variety of newspapers, magazines and websites, and has published a best selling book - Your Money Personality - Unlock the Secret to a Rich and Happy Life, Awa Press, 2008. | |

Tony has been working in the financial services industry in both advisory and management capacities since June 1990, starting out as an old-fashioned tied agent with Norwich Union Life Insurance Society. After a few years as an agent, he moved into sales management with Norwich and left to form an independent brokerage business in partnership in 1997. Tony was both an adviser and the Managing Director of that business, and sold his share of it in December 2007 to his business partner. Since that time he has been employed by Fidelity Life as a senior BDM, and took up the role of Professional Development Manager for Fidelity Life in 2009. Within the IFA Tony has been a director for nearly 5 years, chaired the Professional Development Committee, the College of Insurance Advisers, and the Membership Committee. He has been heavily involved from the earliest days with unfolding regulation, the formation of FAANZ and professional indemnity issues. He remains remarkably passionate about creating an advisory profession within the financial services industry, and continues to work on the evolution of adviser qualifications and designations, professional organisations structure and future, professional indemnity insurance, impending regulation and adviser standards. | |

Giselle McLachlan | |

Giselle McLachlan is a qualified lawyer and company executive, with a focus on project and company governance. Giselle chairs the Silver Ribbon Foundation (for gynaecological cancers) and is a Commissioner on the Earthquake Commission. She also acts as a barrister on a variety of work and runs a consulting company for project work called Clear Counsel Ltd. At the moment she is working with the Enterprise Franklin Development Trust. She holds provisional accreditation with the Institute of Directors Inc. Giselle was General Counsel & Head of Corporate Resources with IAG NZ until mid 2006 and prior to that was a partner with DLA Phillips Fox. Giselle enjoys a varied work and personal life. She is enjoying her teenage son's growing independence and supports her partner's organics farm and business. Giselle splits her time between the farm in South Otago and central Auckland-a true town and country lifestyle. | |
